First Ladies of Africa

The First Ladies of Africa are FLAIR’s founding inspiration — Africa’s most visible and influential women advocates, working at the nexus of political leadership, social change, and national development.

WHO THEY ARE

Africa’s Most Influential Women Champions

Africa’s First Ladies occupy a unique position — they carry the prestige and access of the highest offices of state while dedicating their platforms to the welfare of women, children, youth, and communities. Through FLAIR, they are elevated from national advocates to continental and global change-makers.

First Ladies serve as FLAIR’s most powerful conveners, using their influence to invite governments, development institutions, the private sector, and civil society to the table — and to hold them accountable for progress on gender equality, health, education, and sustainable development.
